“Weird” doesn’t mean “wrong"
Reading in public is weird. Scrolling on your phone is normal.
Eating a healthy meal out of tupperware is weird. Eating McDonald’s is normal.
Going to bed early? Weird. Staying up late binge-watching a show... normal.
Throughout my life I’ve been teased for eating healthy, not drinking, going to bed early (like an “old man”), and for reading at lunch instead of scrolling or socializing.
It’s mostly been harmless prodding, but always struck me as odd.
People tease you for improving your life,
Yet enable destructive behaviors.
When I was overweight, no one ever mentioned what I was eating... When I got fit, people made comments.
Sometimes I wondered if I was wrong for wanting to change, but over time I realized my change made them uncomfortable.
That was their problem. Not mine.
And I wouldn’t let them force me back into “normal”.
